Bible Studies & Prayers

Here are some studies by topic that I've researched, compiled, and utilized over the years. Some are in 'teaching' format (like a commentary), with others in personal or group study format (with space to fill in your answers and provide for discussion).  Follow the tabs for the studies, and print and use as you desire.

Prayers can be found as you scroll down further. Make sure to check out the prayer for freedom from strongholds, and please let me know if you have any questions or testimonies to share.

Finally, if you're looking for supplemental sermons, you'll see at the bottom of this page a link to my husband's sermons on our church site. Fantastic topics and sound teaching.

God our Creator, We the Created: Living in Love Towards God, Others, and Self

We were created to live in harmony with God, others, and ourselves. While sin messed up everything, Jesus came and fixed it all. If we live by His Word, we truly can be at peace again with God, others, and yes, even ourselves.

Be In Love

The Trinity

I think it's so cool how God made us in His image. One aspect of that, I believe, is how each of us, like our Creator, has 3 distinct parts (body, soul, and spirit), yet still exists as one person.  God Himself is One, yet He consists of 3 different parts: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is a one-page document listing the Scripture references proving this marvelous Trinity.

The Lord is One

Healthy Relationship with Food

My relationship with food has taken on many shapes over the years. I still don't have it all figured out, but this study has helped, especially when I've lost sight of the goal.

What Happens When We Fast

So many wonderful things can happen when we fast! It's a powerful way to go deeper in humility and draw closer to God. And then, as we do that, these things occur...

Why You May Want to Fast as Fast as You Can

Okay, here's the deal in a nutshell: Jesus has given us victory over sin. So why do we still sin? Further, why do Christians get stuck in sinful patterns and strongholds? The answer to that has been studied by great minds for centuries, but to sum up it up as simply as possible, I'd propose it's because we're in a spiritual battle. A spiritual battle requires spiritual weapons. And spiritual weapons must be brandished.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled." 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Could it be that we haven't been taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ? Have we yet fully utilized our spiritual weapons through prayer?

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12

Yes, determining to change our behavior is important. Yes, choosing to obey God is critical. But we must also learn how to resist the devil. Then he will flee. (James 4:7) I'm still a work in progress with this-- I've got so far to go! But as I put to practice God's word more and more, the enemy seems to gain ground less and less.

Our battle is spiritual. Here are some spiritual tools that help me wage war and walk in victory, bringing success in all areas, including the physical.

Freedom from Strongholds

Are you overwhelmed? Hurt? Struggling to break free from a stronghold? James 4:7 provides a wonderful guideline for freedom from the devil's wiles. Also included here is a list of verses to combat almost every issue of the heart.

Live Free!

Taking Authority Over the Enemy

Jesus lived, died, resurrected, ascended, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God, "far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come." (Ephesians 1) His Word also says that we, who are in Christ, are seated with Him now in the heavenlies! (Ephesians 2) Are you praying from that position of authority in Christ?

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
Isaiah 61:1-3
